Westborough homes, from the historic center to the newer subdivisions
Westborough has two very different kinds of housing. In and around the center, the West Main Street Historic District and the Vintonville Historic District east of downtown hold older homes on smaller lots, where front steps, foundations and walkways have often settled after many winters. Across the rest of town, especially along the Route 9 and Route 30 corridors and off Route 135, subdivisions of colonials and capes built in recent decades sit on larger, often sloped lots.
Water and open land are a big part of the map. Lake Chauncy, a 182-acre great pond in the north of town off Route 9, is bordered by conservation land and the Wayne F. MacCallum Wildlife Management Area, and there are wetlands and ponds throughout town. Homes near those areas see higher groundwater and wet spots in the yard, and that affects how we plan almost any outdoor project.
